The suspect was found dead at the wheel of his vehicle by police. He opened fire in Monterey Park this Saturday, killing at least ten people.
Police on Sunday conducted a vehicle encirclement as they tracked down the gunman who killed at least ten people at a dance hall in California on Saturday evening, eventually finding a lifeless body behind the wheel. Films telecasted.
During a press conference, officials confirmed that the person who died in the vehicle was indeed the shooter.
“The suspect was shot and pronounced dead at the scene,” said Sheriff Robert Luna, who described a chase that ended with gunfire from a white pickup truck.
“Investigation is still ongoing”
The man has been identified as 72-year-old Huu Can Tran. “I can confirm that there are no other suspects in this shooting,” said Robert Luna, whose motive for the attack in Monterey Park that killed 10 people remains unknown.
“The investigation is still ongoing. Sheriff’s homicide detectives are working around the clock to gather more information and determine a motive for this very tragic event,” he added.
US President Joe Biden immediately ordered flags decorating public buildings to be lowered until January 26 to pay tribute to the victims.
